POUGHKEEPSIE SHOW CANCELED! HERE’S WHY:

In a few words: America’s promoters suck.

After traveling over 8 hours to get to Poughkeepsie, Keith & Co. have to be faced with absolute shit from the local promoter(s). No advertising; no announcements whatsoever they were coming to town. How does this guy stay employed with horrible promoting tactics? My dead grandparents can do a better job than this hack.

We apologize immensely to all who were planning on coming to the show tonight, for it just goes to show why Keith has not toured America. Promotion in the ‘States suck big time. And the industry is too caught up within themselves to ever give a flying F about true artists who make true music. It’s a very sad state of affairs, and not many seem to care.

Again, we apologize.

Here’s a collection of translated Italian reviews of Keith’s latest and greatest disc, A Fondness for Hometown Scars.

Source: http://www.negatron.it/content/view/20552/92/

Fourth solo album for the Chameleon vocalist Keith Caputo, leader of metal band Life Of Agony. “Fondness For Hometown Scars” is a long journey through a sound that can involve cutting-edge rock, grunge, jazz and chill out, tapping sounds that often recall the atmosphere oniriche of “Metropolis Pt. II – Scenes From A Memory “of the famous Dream Theater, but also Coldplay and Muse, while maintaining an identity unique and well distinta.Le acoustic environments and soft songs as” Bleed For Something Beautiful “alternate with songs that deviate significantly From this sound intimate and dilated. In “Devils Pride” and “Troubles Down”, acoustic guitars and piano cede the role to distortions dynamic and powerful battery, with a bridge orecchiabile that prepares the stage for a chorus pressing based on hue minori.L ‘album is composed primarily of intimate and introspective songs in which the lyrics often testify bitterness and melancholy, excluding any risk of expiry in platitudes as frequently happens in music today. “Fondness For Hometown Scars” conceals itself twelve songs full of passion and charm that captures the dell’ascoltatore mind and stupirlo with the wide variety proposal. An album that deserves many listen.

The protagonist of reunion of his Life Of Agony culminated with the release of “Broken Valley” add 2005, the singer Keith Caputo back to the shoes of soloist giving life to the fourth chapter of his career following his excellent “Blood On Your Hearts Dawn “of 2006, and in truth detectable only through his personal website. Now thanks to fresh contract with Dutch Suburban the new disc will be easier to find, and will give an opportunity to this troubled artist from life to reap the deserved recognition for a talent never understood up at the back by some critics and especially by the public . “A Fondness For A Hometown Scars” immediately take distances from the music of Life Of Agony, moving on territories purely rock, distorted guitars are almost banned in favour of those acoustic songs and take a minimal or stylized form, in which the component emotional play the key role, supported by piano and keyboards. The songwriting is inspired el ‘interpretation Keith is particularly felt in the maze of often melancholic atmosphere, framed by a rhythm section never above the lines. Among the greatest moments of pathos include post-rock nostalgic “In December” and the growing suffered from “Nothing To Lose”, without forgetting the notes struggenti “Sad Eyed Lady” and the melodies agrodolci dell’opener “Crawling.” For anyone not scontentare U.S. singer of clear Italian origins also inserts two songs, respectively “Troubles Down” and “Devils Pride,” where the distorted guitars and groove-heavy grunge take the upper hand, recalling the exploits of Stone Temple Pilots or of his main band, evasive episodes, the latter, all things misplaced, in a dramatic and full of authentic feelings that pleases not only to supporters of dell’ugola expressive singer newjorkese, but also to the lovers of rock intimist, night and essential.

For anyone who has some familiarity with the hardcore scene of Brooklyn of the 90s, the name of Keith Caputo is not exactly new. At that time, in fact obtained a success not only public but also critical as frontman of Life Of Agony, success due not only to live their energy but also to their sound reminded that a merger between their two “companions scene” and Biohazard Type O Negative.

With the dissolution of the band almost all components continued their careers in the hardcore and metal, while Caputo completely abandon those sounds preferring a style between the indie and alternative rock for his solo career. Now, despite the reunion of Life of Agony with a new disc (Broken Valley), the singer does not leave behind his solo career by publishing his fourth hour work “A Fondness For Hometown Scars”.

Even in this disc Caputo leaves out any influence of his band, maintaining the sound alternative of its work soloists where acoustic guitar and piano are the master. In fact there is almost no trace of aggressive songs, except in some examples such as “Troubles Down” where his band is allowed to go to sounds of hard rock. However the choice of instruments sound more “sensitive” helps a lot to create an atmosphere melancolica that goes well with introspective lyrics and the voice low and roca of Caputo.

The melodies of the songs are very strong and well composed, making each song a potential single, although I must admit that they have occasionally had the feeling that they have already heard some ritornelli somewhere. The disc also appear different guest exceptional, such as Flea of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers in the role of trumpeter, but I think that their impact in those songs is not so significant as their name that will certainly put on display on the cover of cd. The production at times almost rough demo helps a lot from the sense of intimacy that characterizes many of the songs, the rest of the product Martyn LeNoble, former bassist and founder of Porno For Pyros, and now a veteran nell’occuparsi projects soloists having already worked with Perry Farrell (ex-Jane’s Addiction and Porno For Pyros) and Scott Weiland (ex-Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver). The only flaw in production and the tendency is to exploit the very tools related to item, ending for cover too.

Ultimately, this disc is a success for Caputo, who manages again to show his hand by singer-songwriter in the Life Of Agony could not come out. Certainly those who famigliarita only with his work in the group is likely to remain a little disappointed, so in that case we must listen to the disc with an open mind. If you love a rock lighter and melancolico, with some grunge influence, and certainly this disc a must.

Keith Caputo Announces New Album and New Tour

Album: “A Fondness For Hometown Scars”
Release Date: 2 June 2008

Keith Caputo is set to release his new studio solo album, ‘A Fondness for Hometown Scars,’ through Suburban Records on the 2nd June 2008.

‘A Fondness for Hometown Scars’ demonstrates the fine craftsmanship of Keith’s intensely personal songwriting with this collection of bittersweet melodies and haunting songs of anguish and hurt such as the heart warming ‘In This Life (wake up and smell the bodies)’ against glittering, tender, indie pop and darker, driven, hard edged riffs such as the Velvet Revolver esque ‘Troubles Down (attic crawlspace)’. Mixing Beatle-esque melodies with both beautiful pop songs and at turns the more muscular rock leanings, “A Fondness For Hometown Scars” showcases an artist at the very height of his powers. Guest musicians on the album include Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers) on trumpet, Gerry Leonard (David Bowie, Rufus Wainwright) and Craig Ross (Lenny Kravitz, Mick Jagger, Sheryl Crow). Produced by: Martyn Lenoble, one of the founding members of Porno For Pyros. He has worked with Jane’s Addiction, The Cult, Dave Gahan, Scott Weiland, Daniel Lanois. Mixed by: Martyn Lenoble & Vincent jones (David Gahan, Morrissey, Monster Magnet). Mastered by: George Marino (Coldplay, John Lennon).

KEITH CAPUTO: Who laughs last, laughs best
Interviews – Recent interviews
Written by Mark Tils
Thursday, 24 April 2008

Has good laugh: Keith Caputo
The Small with the big voice. Keith Caputo reports with a new album. The press is delighted and Keith again the focus of events. Even if his last solo album to convince knew it was only on its homepage at concerts or to buy. The demand was great – not unexpectedly – something. But with “A Found Ness For Home Town Scars” went to the Life of Agony-front man back in the hands of a label. A right decision.

SMASH-MAG.com: Hi Keith, nice that you take time for us. Your new album “A Fond Ness For Home Town Scars” will be released shortly. How do you feel it?

Keith Caputo: Very good. I am sure that people like this album. It is a very impressive album.

SMASH-MAG.com: “Hearts Blood On Your Dawn”, the previous album, was not available in trade. The fans could only on your website, the online store or buy your shows. What was the reason the record was not on a label?

Keith Caputo: Actually there were already all characters on a publication in Suburban Records, the label on which I now publish the new record. However, something in between us then and so I moved it from the album on my own channels to publish. We think just about a re-release of the album on Suburban.

SMASH-MAG.com: Was it hard to make an album without the label?

Keith Caputo: No, it was not. I probably never will “A Fond Ness For Home Town Scars” in the U.S. itself publish when I did not get offered reasonable deal. When iTunes is the world record soon. I will not wait until a major or an indie label the beauty of the album aufweckt. Usually, they also never. I have in all the years of no label that is really for the music burns.

Most of the labels forget where this music comes from: from us. From our hearts and thoughts. Suburban is the first label that I’ve met, I do not have this feeling. They are sincerely behind me and my music and I enjoy very much. They are not idiots. On the contrary. You know as well as fresh, inventive and honest “A Fond Ness For Home Town Scars”. Suburban believe in the music. I’m so happy with this album. A good team. I have Suburban not feel that they yield only to the sharp. Labels bands often treated very badly. Klingst you do not like NICKLEBACK or COLDPLAY you can verpissen. It widert me. And this development has rapidly deteriorated. But I am sure: Who laughs last, laughs best. And we are artists. And I did several years ago began to laugh.

SMASH-MAG.com: On your new album you with many renowned musicians and producers together. Tell …

Keith Caputo: I am very grateful to all these people like Flea from the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, Martyn Lenoble (Producer), Gerry Leonard and Craig Ross on this album is to have had. This means a lot to me and I know this is really very much appreciated. I must say that this cooperation has changed my life. But only the positives. Great!

SMASH-MAG.com: In an interview, you mentioned that working with Martyn Lenoble your life has changed. In addition erwähntest you that he was “like a father to you.” Martyn is just a few years older than du Can you give us this quote perhaps? What is happening in L.A.?

Keith Caputo: Many have no idea what I said in my life was going through as a child and as a young adult. The same is true for Martyn. To be honest, I do not care how people think forget it. Martyn and I have a very close connection to each other. What happened in L.A.? To understand, let the album for you work.

SMASH-MAG.com: 2007 A lot has happened. You were on solo tour with your band THE LADIES EYED SAD, did LIFE OF AGONY played a few shows. With WITHIN TEMPTATION a single and and and … What do you think when you review last year?

Keith Caputo: To be honest, I would have with “Hearts Blood On Your Dawn” a lot more touring. Especially in America.

SMASH-MAG.com: Your band is called SAD EYED THE LADIES. Who came up with this name?

Keith Caputo: The idea for the name I had.

SMASH-MAG.com: Does your band just live together with you or the band was also in the studio?

Keith Caputo: The boys were also in the studio. Of course.

SMASH-MAG.com: Your songs are all very emotional. Is not it difficult evening for dinner to sing?

Keith Caputo: No, it’s hard to bleed night after night.

SMASH-MAG.com: You live in New York, LA and Amsterdam. Which city do you think when you homesick?

Keith Caputo: I have never homesick for a place. “Home” is deep inside me there. I live within, not without.

SMASH-MAG.com: It seems important for you to be in all these places. Can you possibly imagine to live in Germany?

Keith Caputo: Berlin. Yes, Berlin is a city where I live. Maybe Hamburg. Let’s see.

SMASH-MAG.com: What are your plans for the future? Family and children – fit into the lives of Keith Caputo?

Keith Caputo: The main thing is, as long as it is to stay healthy. To be creative and my positive energy. I’m not sure if I have children in my life see. The music drives me forward. I would not necessarily the kind of life. In addition, I have also not yet a woman for life. I’m looking for but also not right. I can see it somewhere but I think everything that takes time.

SMASH-MAG.com: RICKY WARWICK is going to Germany at the upcoming tour support again. 2007 was already here with you on tour. Seems as wärt their friends …

Keith Caputo: no. Are we not. Ricky and I can not wait for the bus to rise and we mutually choke and verprügeln! I have a lot of fun to him after the tour with a black eye and broken eggs back home to his wife to send.
Haha. Only fun. Clearly, we are friends.

SMASH-MAG.com: On your last tour, you have the song “Living The Blues” in the midst of your fans and played for the concerts at the Merch hängst you stand around and give autographs diligently. You seem close to your fans to be very important …

Keith Caputo: My fans give me more strength than it probably imagined. I am happy among them. Especially in the concerts I like that very much.

SMASH-MAG.com: Can you imagine why you something special for your fans are?

Keith Caputo: This should perhaps explain better the fans. I think every individual has his personal reasons to like my music …

SMASH-MAG.com: Not any last words?

Keith Caputo: Yes – bleed for something beautiful.

I have a strange kind of relationship with Keith Caputo. His work with Life Of Agony is absolutely fantastic and also his first, almost ten years old solo CD Died Laughing, he a totally different approach road, I found one of pure beauty. In both cases showed the little man are immense sensitive down shine with strong songs. The acoustic breaks Died Laughing Pure I was too easy and Perfect Little Monsters simply not good. I was a little reluctant to meet his new CD A Fondness For Hometown Scars get started. My suspicion was that this really could come across. Me and my bias, tsk. This CD is pretty quality in the vicinity of Caputo’s first. What special about A Fondness is that the base in the Netherlands. Caputo is on a Dutch label and his band also consists of three Dutch nationals. Fondness opens strongly with “Crawling” which Caputo for the sound leentjebuur has played with Pink Floyd anno Wish You Were Here. Most of the numbers of Fondness is subdued, but it is quite effective Caputo not verleerd course. In the grungy “Troubles Down” for example balt his fist again firmly. I think it is, along with a very sweet “Silver Candy”, the least number of A Fondness. Put me but immediately following bezwerende “Nothing To Lose”, a song which Caputo itself with the opportunity to everything from his voice to get what it is.

6. Do you still have dreams or are you living your dream right now?
kc- I will always be an active dreamer. I have many dreams still to meet. Im also living in one right now.
