INTERVIEW: a Virgin Mega Store Manager Speaks about Keith Caputo!
March 7, 2008
Q: There are so many albums in here; do you suggest anything special for the public?
Mark: Everything is great actually, every album has that special thing that the other doesn’t have so I think you should listen to your favorite stars.
Q: There’s a sign for a new album “A Fondness for Hometown Scars”, is it a kind of promotion for the singer?
Mark: We put signs for plenty of albums in here especially new ones!
Q: It’s a huge sign!
Mark: Well the album is special!
Q: Tell us more about this album
Mark: We sold a few albums for the singer (Keith Caputo) in the past few years but all the people who came to us demanding the album that isn’t in market yet amazed us! Therefore, we listened to it and we found that this is absolutely a hell of an album and we’re expecting to sell more than 50,000 copy of it in the first two weeks!
Q: I see but what makes of this album special one?
Mark: The Lyrics, the music, the voice …! Ask the audience we’re hearing now a song for Keith Caputo from a previous album, that’s “Always” a very beautiful song so I think you can tell why the public love this singer!
Q: It’s beautiful, one of its kind but tell me how the Lebanese public know that person? I mean we don’t see his videos in here
Mark: The Lebanese people focus in the first place on the lyrics, I don’t know why but that’s a common thing, where did they find him? I don’t know but good for them so if you read the lyrics which are written by the singer himself you would be amazed and probably that’s one of many reasons that made Caputo Famous in a small country like Lebanon, there’s a new problem in Lebanon everyday relaxing minds instead of blowing it might be a good solution for the poor Lebanese civilian…
Q: Back to Rap Music what….
REVIEW: Caputo’s Music Creates ‘A Vertical Horizon’
Caputo’s Music Creates ‘A Vertical Horizon’
‘A Vertical Horizon,’ describes very eloquently, the almost mystical power that Keith Caputo’s music wields over the spiritual mind. A Fondness For Hometown Scars grips the inner soul. The album’s passionate, bittersweet melody captivates the heart from the first note alone.
A Fondness is full of radiance. The harmonious rays of Hometown Scars burst of tender throbbing, of inspiration and great sadness. It is beauty and heartache, continually growing and melting away. Caputo’s music possesses everything on earth-and in the spiritual world-that is sensitive, dear and sacred.
Caputo’s new Fondness is tremendous. His lyrics are undeniable. His voice is inherently beautiful. A Fondness For Hometown Scars prepares the very soul for something higher.
The sounds of Caputo’s record evoke and manipulate heartfelt emotions. His melodies depart from the earth and carry the heart to the highest of sanctuaries, far beyond the universe. A Fondness elevates the soul and gives it access into the heavens where all the Gods dwell.
Caputo’s Scars breathe of immortal sadness, continually departing from the earth to only die in the heavens. They are permanent marks, which will always remain, yet they are magical. His Scars allow the soul to feel, escape and fly.
Just listen to the destiny of Keith Caputo’s soul and discover his fragile, haunting horizon. Crossover to Keith’s ‘other world’ and embrace his extraordinary sunset. Communicate with the Gods, follow Caputo and enter his ‘vertical dwelling.’ Experience the sounds of A Fondness For Hometown Scars and be touched for eternity, without end.

REVIEW: ADDING TO THE RANKS: ANOTHER ‘HOMETOWN SCARS’ REVIEW!
Ever since I got my copy of Keith Caputo’s A FONDNESS FOR HOMETOWN SCARS, I’ve been listening to it nonstop. Take my praise for what it’s worth (which is over 35 years of being a die-hard rock music fan and critic): this release from Keith definitely worth getting. I’m thrilled that Keith has found a way to turn out perfect music beyond the hardcore circles that surround him in Life of Agony. After a string of excellent solo releases, I was really just expecting this to be a highly decent album to tide me over until the next LOA release. How wrong I was. A FONDNESS FOR HOMETOWN SCARS may just be the most triumphant musical masterpiece that Keith has ever been a part of.
So, what do we have here? Well, we have a truly magnificent work of art.
Lyrically, and musically, this album combines emotions that not only include Keith’s trademark frustration, sorrow, and anger, but also remarks on Keith’s lighter side, that the man is happy in life and is proud to share with the world his heart and soul. The songs are dark, aggressive, and at times caustic. And yet still, they can be beautiful, upbeat, and joyful. Lyrics tell tales of remorse and sadness, of inner turmoil and the want for splendor and happiness. In writing these songs, Keith has rejected his prior LOA rage and conformity for what comes across as inner beauty, and musical prowess, to share with us his feel and nature of the music he creates. You have songs like “Sad Eyed Lady” and “Crawling”, powerfully moodful that superbly utilize Keith’s vocals, which has only gotten better over the years. And then there’s “Troubles Down”, with a grungy riff that nods to his LOA days, and “Devil’s Pride”, also heavy, laden with a groove that’ll keep your toes tapping.
And then you have “In This Life”, filled with layered melodies, melded perfectly with bright guitars and keys, and Keith’s ever-dynamic vocals. Genius, and perhaps the strongest track on the album.
Elsewhere, there’s plenty more greatness. “In December” is surprisingly bouncy and catchy, Coldplay-like, bright, positive, with a beautiful melody that builds up into a spine-tingling crescendo. “Got Monsters” is dark and melodic, piano and vocal driven, hard not to listen to over and over again. “Nothing to Lose” is a smooth ballad, and while it doesn’t come near the heights of its predecessor, “In This Life”, it’s stunning in its own right. “Bleed for Something Beautiful” and “Society’s Deep Sleep”, are grandiose, and end the album on powerful notes.
This is something I’ll definitely be listening to for quite some time. You will be too. Get this album now!
